CBI Arrests Manjit Singh Bali For Allegedly Accepting Bribe Of Rs 2 Crore

Mumbai: In a rare instance of a top bureaucrat being arrested for corruption, CBI nabbed Maharashtra and Goa chief postmaster general Manjit Singh Bali late on Wednesday night for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 2 crore for granting a builder a no objection certificate to develop a plot, a portion of which was reserved for a post office in Thane.

CVC checks all Games projects for Corruption

The Central Vigilance Commission is reportedly checking all construction works related to the Commonwealth Games 2010, to be held in the national capital in October this year, following complaints of large-scale corruption in the procurement process.
According to sources, the Central Vigilance Commission has asked its vigilance officials posted with the agencies concerned to double-check the procedures involved in the procurement process and other aspects of the projects.

Commonwealth Games (CWG) organizing committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi has terminated the services of a financial expert appointed by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Becoming a private secretary to a chief minister seems to have become an easy route to riches in Jharkhand in the last four years. This week’s raids on current Chief Minister Shibu Soren’s aide M.L.
